Youth Football Manual is a book designed for fathers, friends or anybody wanting to coach a youth football team. It takes them through a step-by-step process, outlining all they need to know to put together a winning youth football program.
The program starts with formations and goes through numbering, play calling, offensive plays, defensive alignments, special teams, and more. It then shows you how to set up a practice from a daily, weekly and monthly point of view, giving a minute-by-minute breakdown showing how to take advantage of every second of practice. The book includes a section on how to use plays, defenses, special teams and everything in between to take advantage of what the other team may or may not be doing. It goes on to show game like situations and field management like downs, distances, blitzes and stunts.
This is not just a book full of plays, defenses and drills. This program doesn’t just give you a fish, it teaches you how to fish.
This book is one of the most comprehensive programs ever designed. Teaching coaches how to design their own plays, defenses, drills and much more, not only giving them all the tools they need to coach a successful football team, but also shows how to use them. Having a great play is only great if you know how to use it. The when, where and how is as important as the tool itself. Most people know that having the proper tool for the job makes all the difference in the finished product. This program will give them a blueprint to follow that will allow even a first year coach to have a successful season.
The workbook will help coaches build their program as they go along in the Youth Football Manual with a page-by-page layout letting the reader fill in the blanks of the workbook that has been set up in conjunction with the manual. The workbook then becomes the coach’s playbook and notebook on the field and during games.
The DVD is also a great companion piece to help coaches get a more in depth view of plays, drills and details that are sometimes too hard to understand with just a description and diagram. The DVD will also show some of the important little things that make a play work or not work. All together this is by far the best program for teaching youth football ever produced.

Dan Nappi has been involved in winning football programs for over thirty-eight years, head coaching for twenty of them. While attending high school his football team never lost a league game; they were state champions during his junior year. While in college he attended many seminars and coaches clinics and has collected a sea of notes from some of the top coaches of all times including Bo Shembechler, Darrel Royal, Lou Holtz and more. He sat at the feet of Dick Butkus as he explained linebacker do’s and do not’s.
He spent only one year as an assistant before becoming a head coach. His coaching career spans every age group from eight years old to high school. This gives him an in depth view of youth programs and coaches. In research for this book he took a team of fathers who had never coached before and showed them how to coach their own team. By the middle of the year he was on the sidelines with the parents as the two new coaches did everything on the field.
Many times he was sought out by parents, league presidents and others to help teams that were struggling; Dan was able to turn the teams around in their first year. He knows how to win and more importantly he knows how to have fun while doing it.
To his resume he had the difficult task of coaching his own sons in football and all that goes with it.
He spent time on college practice fields as an observer to study the winning techniques used by some of the top coaches in the country. His love for the game and desire to help other coaches gives him a unique perspective on coaches and players. This is his third coaching youth football book and one of a long line of others books that have included fiction, short stories, articles, newspaper and more.
If you are looking to coach a youth football team or know someone that is this book will give them all they need to know without having to go through a steep learning curve.
